Computer Requirement

EXCAVATOR can basically run on any platform with the Unix or Linux operating system and a C library. It has been tested on Sun, DEC, and Pentium PC with Windows or Linux. A large memory, preferably 500Mb, may be needed if you want to analyze large data set (thousands of genes).

Installation

Please use the following steps to install EXCAVATOR:

• Contact us for for the distribution files (e.g., install-sun.exe) for different operating systems. EXCAVATOR is free of charge to academic users.

• For the Unix or Linux version, run install.exe, e.g.,

  sh ./install-sun.exe
  

  and follow the instruction to complete. For the Windows version, simply double click the installation file.

  The Java interface requires Java 1.3. If the EXCAVATOR package bundled with Java VM does not work, you can install Java JRE1.3 on your system.
