Cross-species conservation analysis

OBJECTIVE

  • By analyzing the cross-species conservation of the phosphorylytion sites, we anticipate to gain knowledge about functional conservation of protein phosphorylation.

METHOD:

  • By BLAST (E-value cutoff 0.005), we first found out othologs of each oilseed rape phosphoprotein in 11 species from plants, mammals, fungi to bacteria:
    1. Arabidopsis thaliana
    2. Glycine max
    3. Ricinus communis
    4. Populus trichocarpa
    5. Oryza sativa
    6. Saccharomyces cerevisiae
    7. Caenorhabditis elegans
    8. Drosophila melanogaster
    9. Homo sapiens
    10. Synechocystis sp. PCC6803
    11. Escherichia coli
  • For all the orthologs of each oilseed rape phosphoprotein, we then checked whether the phosphorylation sites are conserved or not.

RESULT:

  • Totally, we found 8 phosphorylation sites in oilseed rape data are conserved in all 11 species; 14 in 10 species.
  • The conservation result is available for downloading.
